Rooted Hoya fungii. If you know anything about the person who is behind this website then you know that she is particularly obsessed with Hoya fungii and will show off her plant as often as people will put up with it.
Hoya fungii is a beautiful plant! Big dramatic leaves, gigantic and pungent blooms that will fill your entire home with a delightful perfume, and easy care! This is one of my favorite Hoyas ever.
It’s a great beginner Hoya but also a classic to add to your collection if you’d like the gift of fast growth and beautiful flowers.
This is an unrooted cutting. You will get 1-2 unrooted leaves.
Care level: easy
Ideal temperature: 68-85°F / 20-27°C.
Humidity: 40% and above.
Light: Bright, mainly indirect light.
Sun Exposure: In the northern hemisphere, south, east, or west-facing rooms. North-facing windows may not provide enough light for bloom initiation.
Soil: Potting mix with quick drainage that can provide good air circulation. Hoya fungii can withstand a little dryness between waterings but don’t let it go too long. This one has care requirements similar to carnosa, it doesn’t ask much for what it gives in return! Potting mixes that retain too much moisture for too long will rot the roots. Typical Hoya mixes contain perlite, orchid bark, cactus and succulent potting mix, coco coir, or sand among other ingredients but dense substrates like peat are used in moderation to prevent too much moisture retention. Unless of course you go semi-hydro. I’m not here to tell you what to do. I grow these babies in PON.
