Hoya lacunosa ‘Black Queen’ is a cross from the collection of Edyta Kubiczek, between a Hoya lacunosa with silvery leaves and an unknown father. It’s a slow-growing lacunosa compared to others in my collection and it blooms profusely.
It’s normal for the leaves of Hoya lacunosa ‘Black Queen’ to turn green with time. New leaves grow in with darker coloration, hence its name.
This is an unrooted cutting. You will get 2-3 unrooted leaves.
Care level: easy
Ideal temperature: 68-85°F / 20-27°C.
Humidity: 50% and above.
Light: Bright, indirect light. A little full sun is okay with acclimation.
Sun Exposure: In the northern hemisphere, south, east, or west-facing rooms. Doesn’t want hours of direct sun. North-facing windows will not provide enough light for bloom initiation.
Soil: Potting mix with quick drainage that can provide good air circulation. Hoya lacunosa ‘Black Queen’ won’t want to be left too dry between waterings and will always prefer higher humidity. Potting mixes that retain too much moisture for too long will rot the roots. Typical Hoya mixes contain perlite, orchid bark, cactus and succulent potting mix, coco coir, among other ingredients but dense substrates like peat are used in moderation to prevent too much moisture retention. Unless of course you go semi-hydro. I’m not here to tell you what to do.
